"Minister X and his fiance Y abducted by the UFO!"

Frankly, I don't know if this post is more about political or press culture in Poland. There are two options. It is either the political life that has nothing better to offer to the press than scandals, romances, very-often-absurd-accusation, and kindergarten level insults, or it is the press that is unwilling to write about bills, taxes and policies and chooses all the dirt instead. Either which way it is pathetic. How can one of the leading press titles use the fact that the Prime Minister called the President a "Monster? No, rather a Cookiemoster" in their news feeds? How can the Prime Minister even say something like this? Furthermore what kind of press culture is it when two big newspapers throw insults at each other instead of conveying facts and allowing the reader to choose his/her option? That is below any level.
Now, it is not to say that nothing like this happens elsewhere. Of course one can find ridiculous articles in the US or UK. Of course one knows now that a London mayor candidate smoked pot as a youngster and another has a child out of wedlock. But one knows it from free newspapers distributed on the tube rather from the Independent or the Guardian. It doesn't make first pages of the main titles and it does not happen everyday.
I wish I could read Wyborcza or Rzeczpospolita and not feel board to death by meaningless content.
